Islam and Christianity

Sadly we do not live in a perfect world where there is no violence, but I truly do believe that we can exist in harmony.  One very real cause for violence during the past ten thousand years is the dispute over the mystical realm.  "This is what God is, and you should worship in this way." , and anyone who disagrees is a Satanist heathen.

For the past 10 years, Islam has been the target of hatred.  It's easy to blame a race, religion, or stereotype for all of our sufferings, especially when there really is no one to blame, or when it takes time and effort to place responsibility on the responsible party.

Because of this, I am constantly met with the ongoing campaign to demonize Islam and everything they stand for.  Well, what do they stand for?  Therefore I did what any responsible young man would do.

I asked regular Muslims and Christians a pair of pointed questions.  (Regular meaning the people I asked didn't have a political agenda.)  In using the incident in Egypt where Muslims protected Christians while they prayed as a grounding point, I began the project to find out where the bigotry lies in the world.   Let's have a look see, shall we?

Muslim Question:

If Christians protected you while you prayed such as in Egypt, would you protect Christians while they prayed? Conservative Christians in the US are extremely intolerant towards Muslims. I'm trying to get a consensus of what Muslims think of Christians. What better way than to ask? What is your view on this matter, and I will share it with the Conservative Christians that show intolerance.

Christian Question:

In Egypt while everything is falling apart, Christians protected Muslims while they prayed. What do you think about this? Would you protect Muslims while they prayed. Would you let a Muslim protect you while you prayed? Please note that I will be putting everyone's responses 'unedited' into a project.

Their responses generated a whole new world to explore about compassion, humanity, and the enduring love that we are capable of.  Even amidst the most horrific of atrocities.  Each response below is a different answer to the above questions or scenarios.  (All different people commenting below.)

"Im goin to get u!u r givin to much info!;-)ITS A BLESSIN THO!"

The first response I ever got in my quest came as a surprise.  He took full advantage of the violent query and made quite the quippy joke.

"Brother Kenneth, thank you for your Question.BUt if we think about the love of our Lord Jesus, we will find out that Jesus Love was genuinely love, un controlable love, such that He was not bothering whom to show His love to but He was the Lord of all.Our God is a Big God and you cannot compare Him with anything else, By showing love to our brothers without minding their culture and beliefs, we can win their soul to Christ. Transform their beliefs to Confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior.Brother think about their souls how we can win them to Christ."

Tolerant, and wanting to bring people to Christ at the same time.  Notice the avenue of preach by example, and win the hearts through love tactic being employed.  Albeit a wee bit to religious for me, but the genuine concern for others is most certainly here.

"yes ofcorse.we respect your praying.if you were in peace with us we will be more peaceful with you.we will protect you,"

I love it!   The live and let live attitude is strong with this one.  I'll bet she smiles while smelling flowers too.

"Gregory: Let your gentleness be evident to all: says Paul to the Philipians-check around chapter 4.. when us Christians show love and humility and gentleness to all, then God is simply happy..so its Christians keeping and honoring God's commandments in the matter of Egypt.."

Humility and gentleness to all.  Beautiful!

"If Christians wouldn't Call Muslims Terrorists and wouldn't insult Them, Muslims and Christians Would Be Friends, and Yes, We(Muslims) would always protect you-Christians. Look at pastor Terry Jones, He Burnt The Quran. Do You Think It makes Muslims happy? No. That's the reason why A lot Of Muslims got angry."

Offended that his holy text was burnt to a cinder.  That was kind of a jerkish thing to do, and yet I saw many praise this action, and even repeat it.  After that, bibles and american flags were burnt.  People were killed, and for what? So a select few could laugh at the discomfort of others?   And yet, this young man would still protect Christians while they prayed.

As if written in direct response to this young man's pain.
"Yes of course we would love and protect muslims while they prayed. God is the god of all people and all life is precious to him. Please do excuse our fundamentalist nut jobs that go around buring Quran's in order to cause offense. We love Muslims and have no issue with Islam."

"@greg There is a ruling in Islam which is called Qisas e. i., an eye for an eye... This can be applied in the situation uv mentioned."

"I think that the entire situation surrounding the prayer in Egypt was beautiful. Everyone wants us to believe there is some great enmity set between us, but we are all humans with unique worth. We are all brothers and sisters seeking meaning in a life that is so easily robbed of it.I would stand in that circle as they pray in a heart beat. My body is the least I can give to my fellow man, without regard to why I am giving it to them. The fact it was prayer made for an amazing story, but the most touching part is that, outside of the prayer going on, there is no real separation to be seen there. I would love to be able to see real humanity so closely.Honestly, I have nothing to add to the discussion solely as a Christian. But as a human, those were my two cents."

Beautiful!

"You asked: If Christians protected you while you prayed such as in Egypt, would you protect Christians while they prayed?Yes most definitely a Muslim would."
Again a beautiful and complete settlement of differences without thought, and basic human dignity and respect.

"Christians are called to protect the weak and helpless, and stand for justice. So it doesn't matter if a person is not of the Christian faith, they should still get our protection, even if they don't protect us, when we need defending."

"This is a full story in Quran. It revolves about a dream. I tried much to find a simple language but could not find a reliable source.

The history i know, a group of Christians came to the prophet Muhammad and they wanted to pray in the mosque so they were simply allowed. And future i know Muslims and Christians will fight together against AntiChrist(Christianity) or Dajjal (Islamic). Regards,"

"As a Christian, I feel that it is my absolute duty to be an example of Christ's love. I am not the judge of men, that is God's job. Therefore, a man's relationship with God is also between him and God. My only job is to love people as Christ would have loved them. It does not matter the religion, whether Christian, Muslim, or anything else: If I saw a person under attack while praying, you'd better believe I'd be right there on the front lines fighting to defend that person, no matter how much I might agree or disagree with what they believe."

"Firstly I shall start my reply to you with Salaams To You…

Meaning May Peace Be Within You & Around You... In Your Thought Mind Body & Soul, In Your Past, Present & Future & In Hope All Our True Goals of Good Intentions Is for Purely reaching the highest Achievement of our Hearts Resting Place for Eternal Bliss In HEAVEN.... Ameen
I would also like to say Thank you for Asking Such an Important Most Vital Question of Our Time Gregory On your behalf of all that does not "Know" The Mental Thought & Character & Actions of A "True Muslim & Way of Life "Ought" To Be… Which also express to me "A sincere of Concern for all Humanity In The True Words of Peace to All that are concerned of those who are not judgemental & seeks the pleasure of solution & Peace for Humanity… I would personally take it on board to Congratulate you for taking this good step of higher consciousness without being dictated & let ones soul wander to be free from any harm in search of the true light & it's guidance of which is attached with it.

"Parable of the good Samaritan (luke 10 29:37).As others have mentioned, disciples of Christ are called to love their neighbors just as Christ loved us and has given us of his love (1 John 4). God loved us even though we are a people who are full of sin and were at odds with him. Therefore we must love both friends and foes alike as evidence of God abiding within us. If we as Christians say we love God and have the holy Spirit in us but don't love our neighbors, we're liars because it's harder to love someone we can see than a God we can't see.So yes we're called to love and protect our neighbors, including Muslims. However Christians also see salvation as a form of giving love and protection. Ultimate salvation of the soul is what we would like to see in others."

Yes, I would be protecting them even if they were not to protect me. I'd rather save one of their life than let them die as I watched. What horrific human would do such a thing? They are communicating with God, whether they pray like me or not, does not matter. They deserve that few seconds.
I cannot judge a Christian for all Christians.

The differences between the two religions when talking to the religious, and not those who use the religions for their own political ends, are minimal.  Both are full of love.  Both are respectful.  Both are kind.  Both are faithful.
